Over the past couple of weeks, we have celebrated Easter, Anzac Day and Mother’s Day. The children all enjoyed the chocolate egg hunt, learning about Anzac Day and they even made special treats for their mums. Throughout the rest of the year we will be having a range of enjoyable events for the children and parents to join in with.
We want to hear from you! Please email or let us know through the suggestion box in the hallway or write on our NQS educational program board which is also in the hallway. Or just a comment on the daily reflection.
Please take the time to read our daily reflection book or logon to Storypark to read about and see what your child is learning. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be introducing Toby Ted for the children to take home and return with news about Toby adventures. A book will accompany Toby to write down all that he has gotten up to.
The pre-kinder have started with group time in the morning. They start their day learning the day of the week, the weather outside, and what we are doing for the day. This week we have been concentrating on the Letter “A” and activities surrounding “A”. The children have been very interested to learn through this innovative method.
We have re-designed the 3 year old room to make it more aesthetically pleasing for the children by opening it up and adding new learning areas. This will help to develop the children’s self-help and confidence skills. They now have a library corner, learning tables, an art area, and an area for construction and dramatic play. Their curriculum will involve child initiated learning and also educator intentional teaching.
Coming into the New Year we have spent the time improving the programmes for our families so their children can have an age appropriate learning. As you have seen through dropping your children off, that the 4 year old funded program is purely for 4 years only. Kinder is such an important year for your child as they make their journey to school. I spent the start of the week rearranging the 3 year old room for better experiences and to challenge them more. The 2‘s are working more towards self-help skills.
Marrie has been away on annual leave and will return on the 7th of March 2017. Carly has done a great job educating the 3’s in Marries’ absence. Cameron will be on holidays over the Easter period and again Carly will take over until he returns.
Over the summer break Our House has had a face lift. The inside rooms have been given a new coat of paint. The walls in each room now have Perspex boards on which the educators can display the children’s artwork and learning. In addition, the 2-3 old room will soon have another air conditioner installed.
Are you looking for that quiet dinner without the children? Or do you work late shifts? If so see Marlene about Our House’s Night care program. This program will run from 4.30 to 8.30pm and will cost $70. Families are eligible for all government entitlements of CCB and CCR. Presently we need to have a certain number of enrolments per evening to get the program going, so please register your interest, and tell all your friends!
At Our House we have a referral program. When someone you refer to Our House enrols their child for at least 2 days a week, then after 3 months of their attendance, you will receive a FREE $100 gift voucher from Woolworths. Grab some material or a parent pack from Marlene or Jo or just take some of the flyers we have on the table in the hall and spread the word. Anyone can tour Our House anytime without an appointment. Be sure to let us know if your referral enrols a child so we can reward you with the voucher.
In order to ensure you have closer communication with the centre, Marlene will be more accessible on her new mobile number for you to ring in case you are unable to reach her on the centre landline. The number is 0403 489 246
The parent pockets are almost done being updated. As you can see your pocket has your child’s photo and name attached to it. These pockets are where you will find all hard copy notices and newsletters. This information is crucial for you to keep up with so please check your parent pockets at least once a week. We cannot let the pockets get overfilled so please take these notices home each week.
