As you well know the centre has a new room layout. This was done to benefit your child with their learning and development. The funded kinder now has its own room as this is a separate program run by our Bachelor of Education accredited kinder teacher Cameron. Having their own room will improve the kinder children’s education. Your child’s kinder year is an important one. We provide an enriched educational program. In our kinder your child will learn to make friends, join in cooperative activities, and focus on learning their letters and colours. All this will help your child get ready for the next milestone of going to school. The babies now have much more room in their new nursery. This bigger room enables us to extend the nursery room to provide for children up to 2.5 years old. After that, they will then move to the toddler room which is for ages 2.5 to 3. The toddler room caters to a whole different set of learning and development than the nursery room does, and the play and educational programs there will be much more age appropriate.

Colleen is an amazing cook. The children thoroughly enjoy her food. She works every day from 8.30am -1.30pm and prepares healthy, tasty, well-balanced meals and snacks for your child. Since Colleen has joined our centre the children look forward to each tea and lunch with much anticipation. Colleen caters for all our children’s dietary needs and provides the centre with a lovely aroma. If you haven’t met Colleen, come on in and say hi as she is very friendly and really loves the children. If you would like any of our centre recipes just come and ask. These can be emailed to you or placed into your parent pockets.

Over the summer break the Approved Provider worked hard on the upkeep of Our House. As you can see, this includes a new coat of paint (still in progress in the toddler room) as well as the repainting of the outside deck, porch, and wooden fencing. We have also been working to keep the entire yard clean and well-presented so that all staff and parents can be proud of it. The ongoing of maintenance means that your child will attend a safe and healthy environment for them to learn, play. and grow. This will give you peace of mind for their safety.

Carly has stepped down as our 2IC or Assistant to the Director. We thank Carly and look forward to her continuing as an educator at Our House. Jo is now our new 2IC. Most of you know Jo has many years of experience and she will be here if Marlene is not available to help you.

No play space is risk free. No matter how much we try to remove the risk of children being hurt, children can still get hurt. The greater risk is not providing children with the skills and abilities to Identify and mitigate risk when they come across it so they can engage with the big wide world.

Yesterday the 12th of December we had our yearly audit, once again we have been granted a license for another 12 months. This brings me to the need to advice parents that we cannot have the children coming to care with food in their bags or on arrival at the centre. Due to our food safety program children need to leave their food at home. If your child is having a birthday, please let us know and we will make them a cake and give them candles for their celebrations. There will be a birthday notice in the hallway and this must be filled out and left at the office.

I hope all our families enjoyed our Christmas party. We were really lucky to have such a great day with the sun shining, plenty of food and it was a good time to chat and interact with Families. The children loved our visit from Santa who gave the children fairy floss and lollies… We were able to get some great shots with Santa, which we are putting up in the hall for all families to see.

For the last few months, all the children that will be moving up from the nursery and the toddler room have been transitioning into their new room and have been settling in quite well. On the 16th of January 2017 all the children moving up will start on this day in their new room, with their new educator. Each room will keep their room leader, so children staying in their room will have a familiar face leading the group.

The festive season is upon us and we are all excited. For many of you, this might be your first Christmas with your little ones. Here we are again at the end of another year, it comes along so fast that I feel like I write the end of the year newsletter every few months! The Christmas period also means that it is holiday time for most families so it is very important that you return your holiday form if you wish to receive the holiday rate. Please note: Our House is closed from 3.30pm on the 23th of December 2016 and will not reopen until the 3rd of January. Due to our closure, families will only be charged for the following Public Holidays – Christmas Day, Boxing Day in lieu, and New Year’s Day.
